A committed team of volunteers dedicated their time to removing invasive plants from the grassland remnant known as “Hillside Prairie.” This area holds significance as one of the few remaining high-quality remnants of the original landscape. Regrettably, due to certain constraints, prescribed burning has only been carried out six times since 2006, allowing various woody plants to spread and potentially outcompete the fire-dependent native vegetation.
Thanks to the volunteers' hard work, the invasion has been slowed, albeit not completely stopped. We are immensely grateful to those who have pitched in and supported us in this initiative. Without their contribution, the undergrowth would have overrun this remnant a long time ago.
